CM opens police mobile van service in Multan
LAHORE/MULTAN: The country’s first-ever police mobile van service has been launched in Multan which would go to the citizens and complainants.
Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar inaugurated the high-tech police mobile van service on Thursday. The regional police would station the police mobile van at different locations in Multan where citizens could lodge their complaints on the scheduled dates of visits of the vans for quick response on public complaints.
The chief minister renewed his driving licence from a mobile van after depositing fee. He appreciated the launch of the unique service in Multan that would make citizens’ access to justice easy.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that the Multan model of mobile police van service would be extended to all districts in the province to provide maximum relief to the citizens. He said the van would provide 13 different services to the citizens.
The mobile van would be stationed at different spots in the district. The RPO office would issue monthly schedule for the mobile police van. The justice and facilities would be provided to citizens at their doorstep, he said. The citizens do not need to travel from far-flung areas but the van would approach them in cities, villages and streets. The CM said that the government was equipping Punjab Police with the latest equipment and other tools of information technology. He said the whole exercise would also help combat crimes, besides providing facilities to the citizens. Police recruitments were in process to overcome the shortage of in police force and improve the law and order. Innovations are being brought to the syllabus of police training schools. The Multan police training institute has been upgraded to college under key initiatives, the CM said, adding a DIG level police official was being appointed for the college.
The CM said police should improve their behavour while dealing with the public that would help raise the image of Police Department. Briefing the CM, Multan RPO Wasim Ahmed Siyial said that 13 different kinds of services would be provided to citizens through mobile police van service.
The mobile police service van would provide the services of vehicle clearance certificate, reporting vehicles’ missing documents, character certificates, general police verification, copy of FIR, printed copy of learner’s driving licence, intra-district driving licence, international driving licence, registration of lease of rented property, registration of domestic servants, registration of crime complaints and legal help on violence against women.

World Consumer Rights Day, the CM said that protection of rights of the consumers was a priority agenda of the government, adding that the government was formulating a policy to protect the fundamental rights of the consumers.
