LAHORE: As desired by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, ‘Sanitation Week’ in Punjab would be kicked off by the Chief Minister Punjab on March 18 as part of ‘CLEAN & GREEN Punjab Campaign’.
Provincial Minister for Local Government, Law & Parliamentary Affairs Muhammad Basharat Raja said this during a meeting held through video conferencing from the Civil Secretariat. Local Government & Community Development (LG&CD) Secretary Saif Anjum gave a presentation on the arrangements proposed for the provincial headquarters. While addressing commissioners, deputy commissioners and LG officers, the minister directed to chalk out similar activities from district to the union council level and report be sent to the chief secretary by March 16.
He desired the event must be made a success with the help of local traders, lawyers, journalists, academia, writers, artists and NGOs. He stressed the week might be regarded as a beginning for a great cause to maintain the same spirit throughout the year consistently.
He said during the week, special focus should be made on the cleanliness of all major roads and public places in the cities. It was told that the target of one million plants was set during the week to be planted in schools, hospitals and other selected places in clusters. The sanitation week will be supported by a comprehensive communication and media campaign through print, electronic and social media plus outdoor publicity.
