Teachers’ body holds protests for promotions
The Government Secondary Teachers Association (GSTA) on Monday held demonstrations in front of each district education office in Karachi demanding that the authorities approve their charter of demands.
The teachers held placards and chanted slogans against the provincial schools education department. The placards demanded promotion of high school teachers and junior school teachers.
In a statement, GSTA Karachi Chapter President Ejaz Hassan Awan said the education department had not considered promotion of teachers since 2012, which had compelled the association to hold protests and voice concerns for the due rights of teachers. Awan also announced that the association would organise another protest on Thursday in front of the Karachi Press Club.
