GOC visits GIK Institute

SWABI: General Officer Commanding (GOC) Major General Khalid Saeed, 21st Artillery Division, on Sunday lauded the academic staff of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology for imparting quality education.

The GOC said this during his visit to the GIK Institute. A delegation led by Major General Khalid Saeed met Jehangir Bashar (Rector of GIK Institute), Prof Dr Jameelun Nabi (Pro-Rector, Academics), Sardar Aminullah Khan (Pro-Rector, Administration and Finance), faculty deans, the dean of student affairs, heads of Departments as well as students. The delegation was briefed about the disciplines of Engineering and Management Sciences. It was also informed about the number of undergraduates, graduates and PhD students.

GIK’s interaction with world-class universities, linkages with different industries and concentration on result-oriented research were mentioned in particular. The delegation was informed about GIK’s International Advisory Board, admissions process, important research projects, curricular and co-curricular activities and student societies.

The delegation exchanged views with the rector and took interest in the details of the existing programmes taught at the institute and future plans to introduce more disciplines.

The GOC also had a discussion with the students. The delegation was given a tour of various facilities on the campus and was told about the upgrading of the laboratories.

It was noted that the institute focused on providing a world-class education to meet the techno-industrial requirements of the country and national and multinational companies.

Major General Khalid Saeed later planted a sapling on the campus. The rector presented a shield to Major General Khalid Saeed and thanked him for visiting the institute.
