Special children witness Islamabad, Lahore clash
KARACHI: A number of special children also got the chance to witness the first game of the eight-match last phase of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) between Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars here at the National Stadium on Saturday.
Sitting at the enclosure No 13 of the NSK were 50 special kids of Deaf Reach educational institutions. The credit of involving special children of diverse kinds of disabilities in sports goes to Special Assistant to the Sindh Chief Minister, Department of Empowerment of Persons with disabilities Syed Qasim Naved Qamar.
“We had requested Sindh Chief Minister and are thankful to him for the way he extended his support to the cause. Today we have managed to bring in 50 children and from tomorrow onwards every day 100 children with different disabilities will be provided with an opportunity to witness the PSL matches,” Qasim told ‘The News’.
Qasim, who was sitting with the children at the enclosure, said the children of Deaf Reach educational institutions were brought here through shuttles of the Sindh government.
Meanwhile, Deputy Secretary to Sindh Government Shehzeb Sheikh said that they had asked for 100 tickets but the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) gave them only 50 for this match.
“See, some of the stands are empty. It would have been better had we been given 100 tickets for special children today,” Shahzeb said. Special banners were also installed on the walls of the enclosure.
