PDWP approves uplift 29 projects Rs19.85b
PESHAWAR: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) on Thursday approved 29 projects worth Rs19.85 billion.
Dr Shahzad Khan Bangash, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa additional chief secretary, chaired the meeting. Other participants were Shahab Ali Shah, Secretary Planning & Development Department, members of PDWP and representatives of Planning Development and Reform Division as well as tribal districts. An official communiqué said the forum considered 33 projects pertaining to different sectors, including irrigation, roads and bridges, DWSS, relief and rehabilitation, local government, agriculture, energy and power, health, elementary and secondary education, urban development and multi-sectoral Development sectors for the uplift of the province.
Three projects were recommended for approval of Central Development Working Party (CDWP) and one project was withdrawn. The approved projects of water sector included construction of Barawai Irrigation Scheme in Matta tehsil in Swat, National Programme for improvement/Lining of Water Courses in Fata, construction of potential surface irrigation schemes in tribal districts, construction of Barkas Dam sub-project Khyber district under Merged Areas Water Resources Development Project (ADB Assisted), construction of Tabai Dam in Khyber district under Merged Areas Water Resources Development Project (ADB Funded), Detailed Design for construction of Panjkora river left and right bank canal in Lower Dir. Approved projects of roads and bridges sector include: “Rehabilitation/Reconstruction of Sultan Khail Dara (left & right), Roghano Darra, & Karro Darra road (left & Right), Lugman Banda via Adhokay and Safaray Qamar Tall Distt: Dir Upper, F/S, Design, Reconst: & Reh: of Roads a) Alladad Khel-Village Kani b) Ziam Rest House-Salgaray via Gud Killay Chowk) Village Cheena-Dildar Ghari (12 Km), 2) Main Tangi Rd Rehmat Killi-Sarfaraz Killi Shakh No. 03, 3) Charai rd-Gujar Killi....Charsadda, Construction of road from a) Ghazikhel to Phar Khel Pacca (5.156 Km), b) Zangi Khel to Mela Mandra Khel (3-Km) and c) Gambilla Phar Khel to Wanda Pashan (2.5-Km), District Lakki Marwat, Construction of B/T Roads in Sub Division Tank, Construction & BT of 14 KMs Roads in Bajaur district.” Approved project of DWSS sector was “Rehabilitation and improvement of existing water supply system of gravity flow Abbottabad”. The okayed project of Relief & Rehabilitation sector was “Establishment of Fata Disaster Management Authority in Fata Phase-II”. Approved projects of Local Government sector were “Clean Drinking Water for All (CDWA), provision of solid waste management vehicles and equipment to the existing/new municipal committees in merged districts, provision of municipal services/civic amenities in major towns of south tribal districts”.Approved project of agriculture sector was “Promotion of Horticulture Activities in Chitral.”
