Four NSK enclosures still without teflon roof

KARACHI: Four enclosures at National Stadium Karachi (NSK) are still without teflon roof although only four days are left before the Pakistan leg of PSL begins here.
PSL matches at NSK will begin on March 9. The management of the consultant of the project had claimed it would complete the task by the end of February.
All other development and renovation work related to the PSL matches has either been completed or is near completion. PCB officials said they were not in a position to say when the work at the roof would be completed.
This correspondent saw on Monday that Quaid enclosure, Asif Iqbal enclosure, Wasim Akram enclosure and Waqar Hasan enclosure were still without roof and presented an ugly look, in sharp contrast to the white color teflon over other enclosures.
The workers told ‘The News’ that they would complete the installation of teflon roof in a couple of days. Sindh chief minister Murad Ali Shah visited the stadium on Monday evening and reviewed the preparation for PSL matches in the city.
“Two years ago we wanted only one match of PSL in Karachi and now we are going to host eight PSL matches,” the CM said while talking to reporters. “It is wonderful and a time for jubilation for the Karachiites,” he added. He said the Sindh government would provide all possible help to ensure that PSL matches were successfully organised in the city.
“The Sindh government will try its best to ensure that the facilities are better than last year,” said the Sindh CM. He said that all teams were Pakistani, but he would be delighted if Karachi Kings reached the final and won the event.
He said the PSL event belonged to PCB. “We are here to facilitate in whatever way we can,” he added. Murad said that Karachi would be decorated and illuminated for the PSL matches. Wasim Khan, the newly-appointed MD of PCB, is yet to visit the city and review the preparations for PSL.
PCB’s director media Sami Barni is expected to reach the city on Tuesday (today) and finalise the preparations for media coverage of PSL matches in Karachi. It is his first big assignment since he assumed the charge.
