10 injured in roof collapse

MULTAN: Ten persons were injured when a roof of a cafeteria caved in near Ansari Chowk here on Sunday.

According to Rescue 1122 District Emergency Officer Dr Kaleemullah, the roof of the free cafeteria was made of mud which collapsed due to rains. Rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the victims to the Nishtar Hospital. The injured were identified as Mazhar, Shahid, Muzamil, Abdul Jabbar, Murtaza, Waqas, Amjad, Tariq, Kashif and Ali Hassan.

ABC cables in Fort Munro area: The Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) has started installation of the latest aerial bundle cables (ABC) in Fort Munro areas to control power pilferage.

According to Mepco spokesperson Jamshed Niazi, a team led by Dera Ghazi Khan Circle Superintending Engineer Operations Jam Muhammad Ayub and XEN Mumtaz Solangi was monitoring installation of ABC, meter securing and clustering. He said that power pilferage ratio had gradually decreased after installation of ABC cables at 16 places and 10 villages while domestic and commercial meters were being installed by removing direct wires in tribal areas. He said that Fort Munro sub-office had been established where staff was performing duties in three shifts to address the complaints of consumers timely.

Meanwhile, the Mepco teams, along with a task force raided and caught 56 power pilferers and imposed Rs 1.3 million fine on them.
