Giving more time to govt like conceding to fake mandate, says Fazl
KARACHI: The Jamiat-e-Ullema-e-Islam Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Saturday said a conspiracy is being hatched to change the geography of Pakistan and giving any further time to the incumbent government means to concede to their fake mandate.
Addressing meet the press at the Karachi Press Club on Saturday, Fazl said current rulers are not even capable to address even the smallest and the basic administrative issues of the country. He said the PTI leadership had claimed to distribute five million houses but are instead are demolishing hundreds of thousands of homes of ordinary people.
Fazlur Rehman said the government has no interest in the Kashmir policy but is advocating the recognition of Israel by toeing the US line. He said owing to diplomatic failures, Indian is showing belligerence, China looks annoyed and Iran is issuing threats.
Criticising NAB, Fazlur Rehman said it is being considered panacea, whereas it is hurting the economy. The JUI chief said NAB is hell bent to tarnish the image of the politicians. Fazl said there can no change for good without fresh election. He said the supporters of the presidential system have tyrannical mindset. Fazl said while the journalists are protesting over issues of their livelihood, they must also campaign against threats to the freedom of expression, media rights and journalism. He said both politics and journalism are facing serious challenges to their survival under the prevailing dictatorial mindset. He said critical thinking and independent media cannot be sustained under kingdoms and dictatorships.
The JUI-F chief said the PTI leadership used to claim to break the begging bowl, but their government has become the world champions in begging for loans and grants, instead of addressing the economic issues. He the economy has been damaged beyond repair and the devaluation of the currency has increased the dollar’s value from 106 to 138. He said there can be no foreign investment without building business and investor confidence. He said the country is under external pressure and the IMF is playing hide and seek with his us, while our economy has been irreversibly damaged.
