Official advocates Zamung Kor Project extension to merged districts
PESHAWAR: Secretary Social Welfare Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Idrees Khan has said that solid steps have been taken for the welfare of the people of newly-merged tribal districts.
He said the extension of Zamung Kor Project for the welfare of the youth, orphans and destitute and initiating health cards in these districts was necessary to remove sense of deprivation among the dwellers of these areas.
The official expressed these views while addressing the third day of consultation workshop on 10 years planning for the development of newly-merged tribal districts here on Wednesday, said a handout.
Development work through Social Welfare, Health, Population Welfare and Auqaf departments under the 10 years development projects in these districts was discussed in the workshop. The officers of the departments concerned, representatives of civil society and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) participated in the programme.
The tribal districts are now part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, therefore, spreading a development and welfare network in these districts is very necessary and the Social Welfare Department has made planning in this regard, said Idrees Khan.
Director, Health ex-Fata, Dr Kaleem Khan, in his speech, said that provision of better health facilities for the people of these districts was necessary. He asked to solarize the hospitals in order to solve the issue of non-availability of electricity in the newly merged districts. The official stressed the need for establishing a 40-bed hospital at tehsil level in these districts with all the facilities.
