Former SSP Thatta granted bail in appointments case
KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has granted protective pre-arrest bail to a former SSP Thatta in illegal appointments case.
The former SSP Thatta, Mohammad Ali Wassan, was booked in a NAB inquiry pertaining to appointments of police personnel in Thatta district in 2012. Applicant's counsel Zamir Ghumro argued that the petitioner was neither the member of the Selection Committee nor issued any appointment order. He was transferred and the appointments were made by other incumbents after him.
Ghumro contended that the inquiry against him was malafide and the NAB intended to harass and arrest him though he had submitted his statement earlier. He requested the court to grant pre-arrest bail to the petitioner. The court issuing notice to the NAB counsel and others granted protective pre-arrest bail to the petitioner in sum of Rs.2,00,000.
