PHF bosses to participate in AHF meeting in Tokyo
KARACHI: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) president Brig (rtd) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar and secretary Shahbaz Ahmed have gone to Tokyo for participation in the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) meeting.
Khokhar is expected to be elected AFC Executive Board member in the meeting, The News learnt on Wednesday. On their return, the PHF would announce the schedule of 65th national hockey championship and organise PHF congress meeting on February 25 in Islamabad, sources said.
PHF is organising the national under-19 championship in Islamabad in which 12 domestic teams will participate in the event. PHF is also preparing for national senior championship to be held next month without any financial help from the federal government, the sources said.
At the PHF congress meeting scheduled to be held in Islamabad on February 25, PHF would try to find a solution to financial issues. It is pertinent to mention here that the Pakistan Super Hockey League (PSHL) has also been delayed due to shortage of funds. But PHF officials have said they are committed to organising the event.
