Islamabad : Business community of Islamabad should take measures to gradually meet the fire-fighting requirements in businesses and industrial units and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) would withdraw the fire-fighting notices issued to traders and industrialists.

This was assured by Malik Atta, Director MCI while addressing the local business community at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He visited ICCI along with is team and briefed the business community about the importance of meeting the fire-fighting requirements in their business establishments.

Malik Atta said that meeting the fire-fighting requirements was in the interest of business establishments and their employees as with the availability of these requirements, they could avoid big tragedy and loss in case of eruption of fire.

He said the already established business houses and industrial units should start taking measures to meet gradually the fire-fighting requirements and MCI would cooperate with them in such efforts.

However, he said that it was mandatory for new businesses and industrial units to meet these requirements.

He said that MCI would arrange awareness programmes on fire-fighting requirements in markets in collaboration with market unions.

Speaking at the occasion, Ahmed Hassan Moughal, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry said that the present fire-fighting requirements of MCI incurred exorbitant cost as in some cases the cost of these requirements exceeded the cost of building due to which it was not feasible for business community to meet them.

He assured that ICCI would fully cooperate with MCI in such efforts.
