‘Friends’ arrested for killing young man

A young painter was found dead on Sunday in the Saiful Goth area in Ayub Goth within the limits of the SITE Superhighway police station.

The body was retrieved by the police after some locals informed them about it. According to police officials, the deceased was identified as 27-year-old Ghulam Rasool, son of Sadiq, who had been shot once in his head. He was a resident of Khamiso Goth and a painter by profession.

The body was shifted to Abbassi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to the family for burial. The police also claimed to have arrested two suspects for their alleged involvement in the murder and recovered the pistol used in the incident. The arrested suspects were identified as Zahid and Bilal.

Police officials said the suspects admitted to killing the man during the initial course of interrogation. According to SHO Muhammad Aslam, the suspects were friends of the deceased and they were together along with another friend Sunny when an argument broke out and Zahid shot Rasool after an exchange of hot words. He later threw the body at a deserted place.

Police officials said Zahid also shot Sunny as he feared that Sunny would tell the police about the incident. Sunny had received two bullets and was under treatment at a hospital, the officials added. A case has been registered while further investigations are under way.

Youth shot dead

A young man was found dead at his house located in Anwar Mari Goth within the limits of the Gulshan-e-Maymar police station. The deceased was identified as 25-year-old Abdur Rehman, son of Gul Hassan. His body was taken to Abbassi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities and later handed over to his family for burial.

According to police officials, the youth was shot dead under mysterious circumstances at his house and his family was not cooperating with the police. Police officials said the killing was apparently committed due to a personal enmity. A case is yet to be registered; however, the police are continuing with their investigations.

Three men detained

The Rangers on Sunday claimed to have arrested three suspects allegedly involved in various cases of street crime. The suspects, according to a Rangers spokesperson, were arrested during a raid conducted in the Mobina Town area. They were identified as Nazik Mir, Shafiq and Munawar.

The paramilitary force claimed that they were involved in various cases of street crime and robberies, and arms and ammunition were seized from their possession. The suspects were later handed over to police to initiate legal proceedings.

Two arrested

Two suspects, Abdul Ghaffar and Shahzad alias Shanu, were arrested during a raid in the Ayub Goth area. According to police officials, the suspects had a criminal record and were involved in various cases of street crime. They were recently released on bail from jail. Cases were registered against them while further investigations are under way.

Injured suspect held

A suspect wanted to the police in various cases of street crime was arrested in an injured state after an exchange of fire in the Awami Colony area. Police officials said the injured suspect was named Rizwan, adding that the police nabbed him when he and his accomplice, who managed to escape, were mugging passers-by in Awami Colony. A case has been registered while further investigations are under way.

FIR against school

A day after the Directorate of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions Sindh (Dirpis) suspended the registration of the Mama Baby Care Cambridge School for allegedly promoting Indian culture, the police registered a case against the school’s administration. FIR No. 138/19 was registered at the Ferozabad police station.

The case was registered on the complaint of a person named Rizwan Ikram. According to the complainant, he saw a video on social media that hurt his feelings.

He also demanded strict action against the school management. Police said that officials have been deployed outside the school, but no one has so far been arrested.

Dirpis had formed a three-member committee to investigate the matter of the school’s event in which students were seen dancing on an Indian song and waving India’s national flag in the background.

The video of the programme went viral on social media and was largely criticised by the general public. A show-cause notice was issued to the school’s owner on Wednesday to appear before the directorate.
