LANDIKOTAL: The literati at a seminar here on Saturday paid homage to known Pashto poet Amir Hamza Khan Shinwari, also known as Baba-e-Ghazal.
Hamza Baba Adabi Jirga Landikotal organised the seminar at Jirga Hall in Landikotal.
Dr Yar Muhammad Maghmoom presided over the gathering. Dr Haneef Khalil, Dr Laiq Zada Laiq, Dr Ali Afridi, Dr Kaleem Shinwari, Dr Tawab Shah Masror, Dr Aslam Taseer, Landikotal Press Club president Khalil Afridi and others delivered speeches on the occasion.
The speakers shed light on the literary works of Hamza Baba and highlighted his influence on Pakhtun society.
The speakers termed Hamza Baba as poet of the century and said he inspired a large number of poets.
Regarding the theme of his poetry, Dr Yar Muhammad said that nationalism, sufism, romanticism, and Pakhtunwali were discussed in his work. A mushaira (poetry recital session) was also held on the occasion.
