Notices on plea against CIA Centre

The Lahore High Court issued notices to inspector general of police and Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on a petition challenging construction of multi-storey CIA Centre in the residential area of Old Anarkali. Khurshid Alam and other residents of the area had filed the petition through Advocate Sheraz Zaka pleading that the unlawful construction of the building made the locality vulnerable to terrorist activities. The counsel argued that the construction continued out without mandatory permission from the LDA and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) by the Environment Protection Agency. He questioned that how a multi-storey building of a law enforcement agency could be constructed in a residential area without seeking approval.
