Helmets mandatory for motorcyclists from June 1

Wearing helmets would become mandatory for motorcycle riders in the metropolis from June 1 onwards, DIG Traffic Ameer Sheikh said on Tuesday.
In a statement, Sheikh said strict action would be taken against violators of the traffic rule, adding that those travelling along with the rider are also compelled to wear helmets.
The DIG further said that wearing safety helmets would be mandatory for female motorcycle riders as well. The rule has been made mandatory in accordance with the Motorcycle Safety Ordinance.
