As many as 2,200 students who graduated from different disciplines of medicine were conferred their degrees, gold medals and shields at the sixth convocation of Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) at its Ojha Campus on Monday.
The graduates included doctors, dentists, nursing professionals, health education professionals, bio-staticians and epidiomiologists, besides those who had completed their MBA and masters of science degrees.
The chief guest on the occasion, Sardar Yaseen Malik, in his address stressed that graduates must realise the importance of the professions they had chosen. He reminded them that their profession demanded serving humanity, irrespective of creed, colour or cast.
He congratulated the students and their parents and expressed the hope that the nascent professionals will serve the nation with dedication and acquire success in their future endeavours.
He also appreciated the efforts of DUHS vice chancellor Prof Masood Hameed Khan and his team in the establishment and development of a university which was at par with international standards.
In his speech, Prof Khan recounted the varsity’s progress since its inception and highlighted its various achievements.
He said so far, the DUHS had produced 7,382 undergraduate and 1,190 postgraduate students in all disciplines of medical and allied sciences.
