KARAK: At least five persons, including a woman, died and 11 others injured in a road accident on Sunday.
According to the police and hospital sources, a passenger van (C9039 Peshawar) was going to Gurguri from Karak when the driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn in Kunghara area and it fell into a ravine. Gulnaz Begum, Shah Miran, Mosam Khan, Said Rehman and Bad Shah Khan died on the spot.
The 11 injured were identified as Muhammad Akbar and Nihal Khan, residents of Tabbikhwa, Muhammad Junaid and Afrasiab Khan, residents of Naripanos, Muhammad Janan, Zainab Bibi, Khazrat Rehman, Waseeullah, Kishwara Bibi, Amjad Ali and Waqas, residents of Khuram Muhammadzai area.
Local people and police immediately rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies and injured from the ravine and shifted them to the District Headquarters Hospital Karak. Meanwhile, the relatives of the victims protested against absence of doctors from their duties and shouted slogans against the hospital administration. They pelted stones at the emergency ward of the hospital and broke the windowpanes. Later, the doctors reached the hospital and started treatment of the injured, prompting the protesters to end their protest.
