Animals are dying at ‘Lohi Bher’ Safari Park due to the alleged negligence of wildlife authorities as after a lone lion, a monkey also died here on Friday.
Sources in ‘Lohi Bher’ Safari Park alleged that five animals including Urials, Neel Gaye, black deer, lion and now a monkey died during two months. “The reason of their death is negligence, lack of water and substandard food,” they alleged.
The sources further said that Lohi Bher Safari Park is facing water shortage and authorities are buying only one water tanker a week for around 100 animals, which is much less than the requirement.
Wildlife authorities didn’t bother to make sufficient arrangements for animals in summer season as there is no proper shed and water for animal that’s why they are dying due to heat.
They alleged that the animals are being provided substandard meat, while the heat is another reason. “Many animals have died and authorities even didn’t report to Lahore main office,” they added.
“Survival of around 100 animals is at stake if wildlife authorities do not take action on time and make arrangements for the animals,” they said.
Deputy Director Lohi Bher Safari Park Anwar Aman, when contacted by ‘The News’, while commenting over the deaths of animals said animals are dying because of heat and we are also conducting inquiry about the food quality.
Talking about death of monkey Deputy Director Anwar Aman said, “we have lots of monkeys at Margalla Hills and we will bring monkeys from there.” Talking about substandard food and lack of water he said, “I am conducting enquiry and couldn’t comment on this issue.”
