Spiteful Mirza claims Sindh govt out to get him

Formerly disgruntled but now openly antagonistic toward his own political party, former SIndh home minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza has alleged that the provincial government led by Pakistan People’s Party is out to assassinate him.
According to the former home minister, the task for assassinating him had been given to the chief of Special Security Unit (SSU) Maqsood Memon.
“He has been provided with an injection. It will be administered to me inside an armoured-personnel carrier after I am arrested and the serum will cause my death via a cardiac arrest,” claimed a vengeful Mirza.
Talking to the media after a raid on his house in Defence Phase V on Friday, Mirza bitterly criticised the police action and the provincial government. He said the raid had been carried out illegally without any judicial warrant.
He claimed that the Sindh government had appointed a new home minister and posted an SP from Punjab had been posted as the police chief of district South just to take illegal action against him.
He said the former SSP South Tariq Razzaq Dharejo and a few other officials were removed since they refused to take any illegal action against him. Mirza is currently on protective bails in 13 cases registered against him and the high court had restrained the police from arresting him.
Despite that, he said, the Sindh government sent more than 20 mobile vans and armoured-personnel carriers to his house and arrested three of his employees.
He confirmed that the arrested persons included one of his gunmen, a driver and a domestic worker. He claimed that they had gone to the market to get some supplies.
However, Mirza made it categorically clear to his detractors that any sort of victimisation would make him leave the country. He said he would continue the mission of late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.
He said the police had raided his residence illegally without a judicial warrant and on top of it, the police also took away two of his employees Naik Muhammad and Sikandar even though there were no cases registered against them.
The home minister attributed his survival to the judicial system since he had received bail from all courts in all the 13 cases registered falsely against him.
Mirza said being the son of a judge he would resort to legal recourse to tackle the vengeful tactics being used against him.
He said when he served as the Sindh home minister, he always called a terrorist, a terrorist. He claimed he had also ensured the arrest of notorious criminals, including those wanted for the murder of Geo television reporter Wali Khan Babar.
He claimed that the newly-appointed home minister bore no political value or weight because he had been handed over an important portfolio merely to victimise him.
He alleged that honest police officials were being transferred and being replaced by those who could prove to be helpful in arresting him.
He warned that his gunmen were ready to sacrifice their lives in case of any more illegal action by the police against him.
Answering a question, he said he would only contest on a PPP ticket if Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari came back and assumed the party leadership.
