In order to improve the supply system of water in UC-43, Qasimabad, Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) has started work on installation of new tube-well in this locality.
This was stated by Wasa Managing Director Raja Shaukat Mahmood while talking to a delegation of representatives of citizens Association of Qasimabad, led by Chairman Malik Sabir Hussein, vice chairman Raja Mohammad Hafeez, Mohtarma Raheela Amjad and Rukhsana Khalil who called him in his office here on Wednesday.
The delegation members voiced concern over shortage of water supply in UC-43 as a result of which the inhabitants of the area are facing great hardships particularly in the summer season. They called upon the managing director for taking remedial measures for improving the situation of water in this union council.
After giving a patient hearing, managing director informed the representatives that the old tube-well is not working due to downfall of water depth at the ground level. However, as the matter of water shortage was already discussed by ex-MNA Hanif Abbasi with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, he has allocated handsome grant of Rs4.5 million to Wasa for installation of new tube-wells in those areas which are hit by water shortage.
Raja Shaukat informed that work on installation of new tube-well at Qasimabad has been initiated which is being done at fast note to complete it at the earliest possible time. With the completion of work, the situation of water would improve in UC-43 and the people would avail this facility without any problem.
On the occasion, the association members thanked Hanif Abbasi, Raja Shaukat Mahmood in general and the Punjab chief minister in particular for taking immediate measures for improvement of water situation in Qasimabad.
