Punjab Ombudsman Tuesday summoned estate officer (S&GAD) by June 2 on an application seeking recovery of an official residence at Chuburgi Gardens Estate from a woman who managed to get allotted residence by allegedly submitting fake documents to the estate office (S&GAD).
The ombudsman has summoned estate officer (S&GAD) Muhammad Jameel Tariq for his statement.
Muhammad Shafiq, posted at Governor’s House, submitted the application before the ombudsman contending that the present allottee of Quarter 47-D, Chuburgi Gardens Estate, Shahnaz Ashraf Khatana, is not the real daughter of Musarrat Begum, the previous allottee, who retired from government service last year. He said she was niece of Musarrat Begum. He said factual position would be checked after checking the ID cards of both Musarrat Begum and Shahnaz Ashraf. Shahnaz Ashraf got the quarter by submitting fake documents, he contended. As per the allotment policy of the Punjab government, only the government servants posted at the Principal Seat, Lahore High Court, Civil Secretariat and Punjab Assembly, posted at Lahore are eligible for allotment of government accommodation. The allottees on their retirement will be entitled to have their allotments transferred to the names of their real sons/daughters, belonging to eligible department, he contended.
Muhammad Shafiq claimed the quarter was allotted to him on merit and seniority basis, under Registration No 147 dated 22nd April, 1989, subject to vacation. The previous allottee Musarrat Begum retired on 31st December, 2013 and availed all the facilities, i.e., grace period, extension etc., and retained possession of the house up to June 30, 2014.
In view of the above explanation, he appealed for justice and requested that illegal allotment may kindly be cancelled and possession of the quarter may kindly be given to him for which he has been waiting for four years. The ombudsman while accepting the application of petitioner for hearing summoned Estate Officer (S&GAD) by June 2.
