ISLAMABAD: The ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) will not support the resolution placed by the MQM to unseat members of the National Assembly belonging to Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) on account of their absence from the house for more than forty consecutive days.
It is unlikely that the resolution would be taken up in the session of the National Assembly commencing today (Monday) and is expected to be adjourned sine-die after disposing of the business before it. The major item that would be on the agenda is relating to the legislation and adoption of a Bill to levy and collection of the gas infrastructure development cess [The Gas Infrastructure Development Cess Bill, 2014]. It would be piloted by Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaquan Abbasi.
The resolution of the MQM pertaining to depose members of the PTI is required to be taken by the house on private member’s day which would be on Tuesday. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who is leader of the House could decide to extend the duration of the National Assembly beyond one day. The Parliamentary sources told The News here on Sunday that the session of Senate has also been extended till Wednesday for the purpose of adoption of the bill in question. The bill regarding gas cess had to be passed during this week due to technical reasons. The Senate had to be prorogued on Friday last, the sources added. Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will chair the proceeding and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will also turn up in the House. The members of the ruling party and other Parliamentary groups have been asked by their respective leadership to attend the session without fail. The National Assembly Secretariat has already issued Order of the Day for the sitting. Accordingly the question hour will take place and it would be followed by other business.
A calling attention notice by Ms. Shaista Pervaiz Malik and Ms. Seema Mohiuddin Jameeli, Ms. Farhan Qamar, Ms. Kiran Haider and Ms. Asiya Naz Tanoli will be placed before the house that will invite attention of the Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination to a matter of urgent public importance regarding shortage of funds of Pakistan Hockey Federation resulting in abandonment of training camp and adverse effects thereof, causing grave concern amongst the public. Muhammad Baligh-u-Rehman Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training will move the Bill for passage to provide for the establishment of Capital University of Science and Technology [The Capital University of Science and Technology Bill, 2015], in the house.
Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Senator Pervaiz Rashid will place two Ordinances before the National Assembly as required by clauses (2) of Article 89 of the Constitution and they are: (i) The Pakistan Army (Amendment) Ordinance, 2015 (No. I of 2015), (ii) The Cantonments (Amendment) Ordinance, 2015 (No.VI of 2015).
In another calling attention notice Sher Akbar Khan and Ms. Aisha Syed of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) will invite attention of the Minister in charge of Cabinet Secretariat to a matter of urgent public importance regarding protracted sufferings of women working under Broken Families Policy but not being permanently absorbed in their respective departments, despite availability of posts and permanent employment of their spouses in the ICT, causing grave concern amongst the public.
