A seminar was held at Air University about ProQuest Dissertation & Theses Databases and SUMMON here on Tuesday, says a press release.
ProQuest Manager Anas Abdel Hadi conducted the interactive session. Air University’s faculty members, researchers, deans and heads of the departments from the various other universities of twin cities, and KP attended the seminar.
Mr. Anas told the audience that ProQuest Dissertation & Theses (PQDT) Global simplifies searching for dissertations and theses via single access point to explore an extensive collection of 3.8 graduate works, with 1.7 million in full text. He also briefed audience on SUMMON discovery service initiative. He added that SUMMON is a great place to start research because it covers all HEC electronic database subscriptions.
Air University Vice Chancellor Air Vice Marshal (r) Faaiz Amir in his inaugural speech appreciated this initiative of the HEC through its National Digital Library Program (NDLP). Further, he said that in line with our vision and mission of a research-intensive university, we are committed to a comprehensive higher education system with particular focus on creative teaching, research and to produce leaders of high professional values to enable them play their due role effectively in the service of society.
Chief guest, HEC Advisor (R&D) Professor Dr Tariq Mahmood, in his address urged faculty and researchers for optimum utilisation of electronic resources subscribed by HEC NDLP. He said that HEC is spending a huge amount on subscription of these high quality e-resources in its efforts to promote research culture in the country. He anticipated that this seminar will certainly be very beneficial to the participants from various universities and hoped that they will take full advantage of the benefits offered by this seminar.
