LAHORE
WWF-Pakistan signed an MoU with College of Earth & Environmental Sciences, Punjab University, to spread environmental education through WWF-Pakistan’s International Eco-Internship programme.
Through this MoU, about 200 students will participate in the International Eco-Internship programme. Moreover, the two organisations will collaborate on significant environment days to promote environmental conservation i.e. World Water Day, World Wetlands Day, Earth Day, World Environment Day and World Soil Day.
The MoU was signed by Anwar Nasim, Senior Director Corporate Relations and Operations, WWF-Pakistan; Hamza Malik, senior officer, International Eco-Internship Programme, WWF-Pakistan; and Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran and Dr Firdaus-e-Bareen, Principal College of Earth & Environmental Sciences, Punjab University here Friday.
According to Anwar Naseem, “WWF-Pakistan is the only organisation running such environmental programmes in educational institutions of Pakistan which is admired by the international community. Moreover, India, China and Bangladesh have also decided to run similar awareness programmes. Through this collaboration, we aim at creating environmental awareness amongst students for a greener future.” Through this programme, students will take part in six day-long sessions, which will give them the opportunity to become affiliated with a global organisation and create a genuine sense of civic responsibility.
