MANSEHRA: As many as 14 candidates have submitted nomination papers for by-election on the provincial assembly constituency PK-56.
The by-election is scheduled to take place on June 8.According to the final list issued by Returning Officer Tahir Hassan, a total of 14 contenders have submitted nomination papers.Former minister of state Sardar Shahjahan, the son of Federal Minster for Religious Affairs Sardar Mohammad Yousuf, has also submitted nomination papers on the direction of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Sources in PML-N said that Shahjahan, who was settled in Britain, was called by his father to return the country to contest the election. Wajihuzzaman, who was disqualified as MPA by the Election Commission, was said to be in contact with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for its ticket, also submitted nomination papers.
PTI’s Haq Nawaz Khan, who had lost to Wajihuzzaman Khan, has also submitted nomination papers.Maulana Nasir Mehmood of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl is also contesting for the seat.Some of the candidates, who submitted nomination papers for the by-polls included Rabnawaz Tahir, Amanullah, Khalid Khan, Qazi Habibur Rehman, Babar Sharif and Sardar Liaqat.
