I applied for the post of executive engineer in a government organisation and asked for age relaxation available to disabled persons. But instead of helping me and providing me justice the officials concerned ignored all my pleas. Rather they came up with the mediocre explanation that relaxation is available only to entry cadre and low-level staff positions and that a total of two percent disabled staff strength is maintained. I did not get a reply when I asked them about the strength of disabled employees in the executive cadre in the organisation.
Our public sector organisations are violating disabled persons rights and there are many cases in courts pending decisions. People like me, who cannot bear litigation expenses, never get any justice. Those fortunate disabled candidates who succeed and make their way into contractual positions are deprived of permanent positions/regularisation despite spending more than five years in service in government organisations. The government is requested to remove shortcomings in the Disabled Persons Act.
