Rawalpindi: The local management recovered 350 kilograms of rotten meat coming from other cities to Rawalpindi on Thursday.
An FIR has been registered against Sohail Khan, s/o Hayat Khan, with the Naseerabad Police Station.
Rawalpindi-Islamabad Slaughterhouse General Manager Dr. Farrukh said that this was not the first time that unhygienic meat was caught by the officials. “Just a week back, on April 22, officials seized rotten meat coming from different cities through motorway to Rawalpindi city. “We filed an FIR against Muhammad Hamid with the Waris Khan Police Station,” he claimed.
‘The News’ learnt that some of the areas where shopkeepers were found selling unhygienic meat include Ganjmandi, Dhoke Kala Khan, Dhoke Hassu, Dhoke Najju, Dhoke Matkial, Pirwadhai, Hazara Colony, Sadiqabad, Adiala Road and Gorakhpur.
According to information, ‘The News’ collected from the city district government, there are around 2,500 meat shops in the city and almost all butchers do not have proper arrangements for covering meat making it unfit for human consumption.
