Standing with Malala

This refers to the letter, ‘An asteroid for Malala’ (April 16) by Muhammad Yasir Kayani and Barrister Mobeen Shah. The views expressed by the writers reflect the voice of the majority of Pakistanis and the world. One of the writers in particular has lamented the inexplicable apathy of our so-called leadership towards Malala who has grown larger than life at such a young age.
She is the antithesis of the extremism that has taken a heavy toll on the spirit of our country. While the world has honoured her beyond measure Pakistan has ignored Malala beyond reasonable doubt. Our politicians are scared of extremists and lack the courage to glorify the soft image of the country. The choice is simple and crystal clear. We are with Malala or with extremists. Our spineless leadership has chosen the wrong side of history.
