The National Book Foundation (NBF) has chalked out a comprehensive plan to commemorate the 6th National Book Day from April 22 to 26 at the Pak-China Friendship Centre, says a press release.
Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid will inaugurate the mega event today (April 22) at 10 a.m. Ambassador of Turkey in Pakistan Sadik Babur Girgin will be guest of honour on the occasion.
In the opening session, programmes like Schoolchildren’s Book Parade, Children’s Book Anthem, Hoisting of Book Flag and Oath-Taking Ceremony will be held.
Professor Dr. Inam ul Haq Javeid, managing director of the National Book Foundation (NBF), will deliver welcome address and highlight important functions and achievements of the National Book Foundation and prime purpose of this event.
The NBF has a plan to celebrate 6th National Book Day with fervour and festivity. This cause-oriented colourful five-day event will be ideally suited for promotion of book culture, reading and literacy. The significance of this event is to provide opportunities to all to buy books at discounted rates from the bookstalls. A large number of people from different walks of life will attend the ‘Book Mela’.
It will promote our culture and education among people. The event will provide opportunities to all to enjoy different entertainment programmes, and to meet with the legends of our country, spending moments with renowned writers, scholars and intellectuals under one roof at one spot.
