Soomro promises conditional support for clearance of private land

The KMC administrator has said the department was ready to remove encroachments from private plots also if the law enforcement agencies provide protection to its staff.
Saqib Soomro stated this while talking to a four member delegation of Association of Builders and Developers who requested him for removal of encroachments from the plots of their members in Surjani Town.
The delegation, headed by Mohammed Sohail, said the encroached lands worth billions of rupees.
Soomro assured the visitors that the KMC anti -encroachment staff will help ABAD in vacating the encroached plots, but “It is ABAD’s duty and responsibility to prove that these plots were owned by its members.”
The administrator suggested that the deputy commissioner (West) should convene a meeting and ABAD should indentify those plots then after verification, the KMC would help ABAD in this regard.
Soomro said a powerful mafia was behind the encroachments in Karachi and the municipalities were facing stern resistance while vacating them, however, the government has decided to free the city from this evil practice.
“Amenity plots will be used for its original purpose only or their allotment will stand cancel for which necessary law making was under way,” Soomro asserted.
