About 400 students of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) were given laptops under the Prime Minister’s National Youth Laptop Scheme on Friday.
MNA Shaista Pervaiz Malik chaired the laptop distribution ceremony who along with Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha and MPA Saadia Nadeem distributed laptops among the students who were selected on merit from UVAS different disciplines/departments.
Shaista Pervaiz Malik, addressing the ceremony, urged students to use laptops as a tool to excel in education. She said today was the age of technology and knowledge of economy. “Today wars are fought through knowledge not weapons in this high-tech age’’. Keeping this fact in mind, the PML-N government is equipping Pakistani youths with laptops under the Prime Minister’s National Youth Laptop Scheme,” she added. Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha spoke about the history of UVAS and its academic, research, extension, training programmes, and achievements. He said UVAS had developed state-of-the-art-clinics, teaching, training, research and diagnostic facilities. He termed UVAS a “mini Pakistan” because of its cultural diversity as its students belonged to every corner of the country.
