ABBOTTABAD: The Tehreek-i-Suba Hazara (TSH) here Sunday observed the fifth death anniversary of seven people who were killed during a protest against renaming of the North-West Frontier Province (NWFP) as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on April 12, 2010.
Addressing the gathering, TSH chief Sardar Haider Zaman demanded registration of the first information of report (FIR) against the officials concerned for ordering firing on the protestors. “No action has been taken against these officials despite the passage of five years,” he said.
Also known as Baba Haider Zaman, the elderly TSH leader said the sense of deprivation and alienation among people of Hazara would grow until they were given a separate identity by establishing a province.
Criticising the political parties and their leaders operating in Hazara, he said they had received votes in the name of Hazara province but had stepped back on the matter after making their way into the Parliament.
He referred to Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, provincial Minister Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani and MNA Dr Azhar Jadoon and said that they had changed their stance after coming into power and betrayed the people of Hazara.
“The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has cheated the people of Hazara by making hollow promises during its election campaign,” he said. He added that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was not sincere with the people of Hazara who had elected him twice in the past and supported his party in all the elections.
He also criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leadership and said it never supported the Hazara province. “The PTI leadership is following in the steps of the PML-led federal government and simply relying on empty promises without any practical step to fulfill our demand,” Haider Zaman argued.
He said that their struggle would continue till the creation of Hazara province. He asked the people of Hazara to vote for the candidates of TSH in the coming local government election so that their movement for creation of a separate province could receive impetus.
