Nawaz’s return to reshape country’s democratic history: Marriyum

LAHORE: PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb on Tuesday said the party president, Shahbaz Sharif, would lead the procession to welcome deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif on July 13 (Friday).

It would be a historic day for the supremacy of the people, respect for vote and thus a reflection of the people’s court unanimously ruling in favour of PML-N on July 25, she said. “Nawaz has become the epicentre of Pakistani politics,” Marriyum added.

“This day of Nawaz’s return will set the democratic progression of Pakistan on the right track and reshape the democratic history of the country,” the PML-N spokesperson said.

Addressing a press conference after a meeting attended by the PML-N big wigs to finalise the preparations regarding the reception for Nawaz on his return, Marriyum said the PML-N was fully prepared and meticulously organised to stage a peaceful historic welcome for the son of soil and the brave leader of the people, whose unshakeable resolve to stand up for the people and their supremacy had earned him respect and love in the hearts and minds of Pakistanis like no other.

She said Nawaz had proven good to his word that he gave to his countrymen that he would never back down and would stand by them, for them, despite the hasty decision against him, which had been severely criticised by respected legal experts. She added that despite relentless and ruthless endeavours, the prosecution could neither establish the ownership of Avenfield apartments nor prove corruption worth a single penny against the PML-N supremo.

Marriyum said, “Through this controversial and weak decision, Nawaz is being forced to become a prisoner who is nothing but a victim of political victimisation, but those who are guilty of doing this do not know that whoever had been persecuted like this in the political history of the world came back stronger than ever.”

Marriyum maintained that the sudden urge for accountability of just one political party right before the elections was tantamount to pre-poll rigging.

She said the PMLN was negotiating with the city administration vis-à-vis the arrangements for the millions that would welcome Nawaz. Welcoming camps were also being set up for the purpose, she told journalists.

“The people of Pakistan have already rejected this decision, but they will vocally and unanimously express their rejection through a historic welcome for their leader on July 13,” she said, adding that Nawaz was connected to the hearts and minds of his people.

“Imran Khan, who has established himself as a compulsive liar, once again did what he does best and levelled yet another baseless allegation of corruption against PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif while waving a piece of paper in the air at his recent rally. Imran Khan deserves a medal for being the biggest liar ever because in the past he had alleged corruption worth 27 billion and Rs10 billion hush money against Shahbaz, but when Shahbaz took the matter to court, the coward Khan did not even had the guts to show up at any of the hearings,” she recalled,

In fact, Imran’s lawyers requested Shahbaz for silence on the matter as they had no way to defend the pathological liar, Marriyum said. “Imran also had to face the embarrassment at the hands of the Chinese government after alleging corruption in the Multan Metro Project and being proven wrong yet again, this time earning international embarrassment for his habitual lying,” she added.

She said Imran and his PTI had set the world record for building the most expensive ruins in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa worth Rs 70 billion instead of Peshawar Metro which had made life a hell for the city’s residents. This needs to be investigated by NAB, the PML-n spokesperson stressed.

She said Pervaiz Khattak had already stated on the record that Imran had no idea about technical matters, while the PTI chief too admitted that his ministers had no idea how to run Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “Therefore, Imran should publicly admit that he is an incompetent liar who has no ability whatsoever,” she remarked.

Marriyum said the PML-N and its leadership had never berated or attacked any national institution. “The PMLN leadership has always respected and honoured the constitutional institutions of Pakistan and the fact that the party supremo is returning to the country to honour a decision which he and the people don’t even agree with, is a proof of this fact,” she said.

“However, we condemn only that mindset which curbs and undermines the supremacy of the Constitution and the civilians in the democratic country of Pakistan,” said the PML-N spokesperson.

She termed the suspension of local government representatives highly condemnable and said the matter would be taken up with the Election Commission. “Restraining political workers is in against the spirit of democratic values,” she said.
