Three-day spring festival at SMIU starts today

The Sindh Madressatul Islam University is organising a three-day spring festival from Tuesday comprising variety of events, an SMIU official stated on Monday.
SMIU Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh will inaugurate the festival followed by an Urdu Mushaira at the university’s Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Auditorium. Urdu debate and presentation on Islamic history and mosques of the world will also be held on the first day.
On the second day, a special children programme will be organized followed by theatre and trilingual declamation contest (English, Urdu and Sindhi) and a music function.
On the last day of the event singing and acting competitions will be held amongst the students of the university before screening of a movie titled, “Children from Heaven”.
The official added that media workshop has also been arranged on Thursday along with cricket, football and tug of war tournaments and a 100 meter race among students of various departments.
The prize distribution ceremony will be held on the last day of the event presided over by the SMIU VC.
The students of the university have been allowed to bring their families with them at the festival.
