World Blood Donor Day is observed every year on June 14 in various countries across the globe, including Pakistan. The day aims to raise awareness regarding the need for routine blood donations to ensure the quality, safety and availability of blood and blood products for patients in need. It also extends gratitude to million blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood.
It is quite puzzling that about 92 million units of blood are donated annually worldwide. But unsurprisingly, safe blood is alarmingly on high demand, particularly in developing countries. It is important that voluntary blood donors come forward and donate blood on a regular basis to help the ailing humanity.
