ISLAMABAD: In a positive development, financial closure of most of power projects that are to be installed by 2017 with the capacity to generate 10,400 MW of electricity under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor initiative has been completed, and on the remaining projects, the financial closures will be achieved before visit of the Chinese president. The ground breaking of some of the projects may be done by Chinese president.
This has been disclosed by one of the top officials who attended the meeting of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Joint Working Group on Energy Projects held here Wednesday. The meeting was co-chaired by Secretary Water and Power Mohammad Younus Dagha and Zhang Yuqing, Vice Administrator National Energy Administration China.
The meeting took in depth stock of the progress achieved by both sides as per the agreed schedule. The meeting also took into account the level of preparedness by both sides on energy projects under the umbrella of China Pakistan Economic Corridor. It was agreed that both the sides would take further accelerated steps for implementation of the projects.
