ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday congratulated Hameed Haroon and Sarmad Ali on their winning the election of president and secretary general of All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS_ as well as other newly elected office-bearers of APNS.
In his message, the prime minister said their election is evidence of trust and confidence of members in their leadership. He expressed the confidence that newly elected office-bearers will work for the progress of media and welfare of journalists in the country.
APP adds: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid in their separate messages on Wednesday congratulated the APNS newly elected office-bearers.
In their separate congratulatory messages to Hameed Haroon, Sarmad Ali and other office-bearers of the APNS, the speaker and the deputy speaker said that their election was an evidence of trust and confidence of the members of the General Council of APNS reposed in them.
The minister in his message to the APNS president-elect Hameed Haroon said the government believes in freedom of expression and would continue to facilitate media in performance of its professional obligations.The minister hoped that newly elected body of APNS would continue its efforts for the welfare of media workers and strengthen democracy in the country.
