ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Tuesday set aside the decision of Islamabad High Court (IHC) and declared legal the appointment of Mohammad Malick as Managing Director (MD) PTV.
A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk, heard the appeal of Mohammad Malick against IHC’s July 7, 2014, judgment, wherein his appointment as MD PTV was declared illegal.
Director Special Assignments PTV Qazi Mustafa Kamal had challenged the appointment of Malick as MD PTV.However, the court set aside the IHC order and declared the appointment of Mohammad Malick as MD PTV as legal. The court observed that the commission which was constituted for the appointment of heads of statuary bodies no longer exists as the Supreme Court had revisited its order pertaining to that commission; therefore, the objection of the respondent Qazi Mustafa Kamal becomes anfractuous.
