DUBAI: Pakistan’s Ambassador at Large and PM’s Special Envoy Javed Malik has said that development of Pak-China Economic Corridor and the port of Gwadar has the potential to revolutionise regional and international trade and make Pakistan a global hub for business and trade.
“This would not only boost investment and business activity in the Pakistan but will have a very positive impact on the country’s economy, create employment and open the door for entrepreneurs to participate in economic development of the country, he added.”
Ambassador Malik participated in the annual investment conference held in Dubai in which delegates from over 60 countries are taking part. During his interactions with key participants on the sidelines of the conference Ambassador Javed Malik highlighted the business, trade and investment opportunities in Pakistan.
While speaking about the government’s investor-friendly policies, he said “the government led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is introducing effective policy changes and reforms to increase growth, create an environment that facilitates economic activity, encourages entrepreneurship and paves the way for the expansion of Pakistan’s global trade with the region.
There is a focus on liberalisation, de-regulation, privatisation and promoting a culture of ease of doing business. The government attaches paramount importance to ensuring transparency, good governance and has zero tolerance for corruption.
Replying a question about the security situation, the ambassador said that the brave, courageous and the highly professional armed forces of Pakistan are determined to root-out extremism and major tangible successes have been achieved in our fight against extremism. He pointed out that operation Zarb-e-Azb has been highly effective and has broken the back of the miscreants that dared to challenge the writ of state. The government, armed forces, and the people of Pakistan stand united in creating a secure and stable environment for our citizens and welcome foreign investors, he affirmed.
