MMA to eliminate ‘qabza mafia’ from Punjab politics: Baloch

MULTAN: Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal secretary general Liaqat Baloch has said that the MMA will eliminate Qabza mafia from the Punjab politics.

Talking to journalists here on Monday, Baloch said that making Pakistan a welfare Islamic state was the MMA election manifesto while the alliance had made a plan to capture maximum seats in the general elections. Criticising India on constructing the Kishan Ganga Dam, he said that it was a water terrorism of India. He demanded the government raise voice in the United Nations and the World Bank against the construction of the Kishan Ganga Dam, which was open violation of the Indus Water Treaty.

He said that the construction of the Kishan Ganga Dam would be a great challenge for the next caretaker government. He said that the religious leadership had a capacity to meet any challenge. Liaqat Baloch said that the MMA leadership had decided to move the Election Commission of Pakistan to get electoral symbol of ‘Book’. The election manifesto would be Islamic, revolutionary and comprehensive, he added. He demanded Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Finance Minister Miftah Ismail save textile sector from the ongoing crises.

laptops distribution launched: The Higher Education Department Monday launched the fourth phase of laptops distribution under the Punjab Chief Minister laptop scheme at Multan Bahauddin Zakaryia University’s Jinnah Auditorium.

Talking to reporters, Multan Director Colleges Haider Gardezi Syed said the Punjab government had spent Rs 7 billion on laptops and all districts of Multan division would receive laptops within three days. Some 116,000 laptops would be given to talented students across the province in the fourth phase. He said laptops would be given to Multan division’s 3,500 students, who secured more than 90pc in 2015, 2016 and 2017 examinations. Police presented a guard of honour to students who secured high marks.
