PAKPATTAN: A canal breach of 30 feet was occurred near Chak Islam Garh here on Sunday.
The canal water entered the village and ruined the houses and crops. People tried to fill the gap on their own as irrigation department officials, including the XEN, reached late on the spot.
Locals complained to the XEN that the irrigation department officials did not de-silt the canal and the embankments were also weak to withstand any water pressure.

Farmers said wheat and others crops were already facing water shortage due to closed canals and on the other hand, the Multan Electric Power Conpany has started doing unscheduled power shutdown, which is badly affecting their crops. They have demanded the authorities to bring an end to this hours long power outages.
