Teaching is arguably the noblest profession in our country. However, the treatment that is meted out to teachers, especially in private schools, is a cause for concern. These schools, which have opened up in different parts of the country, are business-oriented. They pay meagre salaries to teachers and do not give any perks or benefits. All teachers make untiring efforts to build the character of their students and are pivotal in ensuring that the standard of schools is high. But in exchange for their commitments, these teachers merely receive a four-digit salary package.
Other professionals obtain a much higher salaries than teachers. Even a clerk avails and enjoys a better salary package and facilities than a teacher. In addition, students also don’t respect their teachers. This worrying state of affairs will never lead us to the path to progress. Nations that give respect to their teachers are successful in the long run.
