LAHORE: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Sunday flew to Lahore for a meeting with PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif and President Shahbaz Sharif in Raiwind.

According to sources, options for caretaker set-up came under discussion among other agenda items. The meeting decided to contest the forthcoming election with full commitment. Nawaz said all energies were being applied against the PML-N, but the 2018 election would see the collapse of those staging sit-ins. He said “respect the vote” would remain the slogan of the PML-N.

PM Abbasi said the PML-N would set the country on the path of progress after coming into power again. Shahbaz said the party didn’t want a clash between national institutions. He said they stood innocent in past cases and the same would happen again in the ongoing cases against the Sharif family. Hamza Shahbaz and Salmaan Shahbaz were present in the meeting.

The PML-N leadership also discussed the probable fallout of decisions in cases against the Sharif family and probable strategies of dealing with and channelizing public outrage in case of a negative outcome. In addition, they discussed political developments in the country, campaign for general elections and award of party tickets.

Meanwhile, Adviser to the Prime Minister and PML-N Provincial President Amir Muqam, addressing a press conference in Peshawar on Sunday, said Imran Khan should first give answer for his 90 days in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said the conflicts between Imran’s words and deeds had been noticed by people. He said Imran’s 100-point plan was just a swing in the air and had nothing to do with reality like his slogan of change in 90 days.
