The Sindh cabinet is scheduled to meet on Monday (today) in one of its last meetings as the outgoing Sindh government’s tenure is about to end on May 28 with the completion of the five-year term of the 14th house of the Sindh Assembly.

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah will chair the cabinet meeting while a formal farewell meeting would also be held later on. Other items that will be discussed include, Agriculture Income Tax Rules-2018, Sindh Regularization of Contract Employees of Khairpur Medical College Bill-2018, the creation of Ziauddin University Board of Higher Secondary Education, the appointment of chairman Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Human Resource Research Development Board and amendments in the Sindh Government Rules of Business 1986.

It is also likely that a formal contact between the Sindh CM and Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly to hold consultations on the probable names for the caretaker CM and members of caretaker cabinet would be made on May 22.

No formal names have been finalised and formally suggested so far for the caretaker CM spot by Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan, whose lawmaker Khawaja Izharul Hassan is opposition leader in the provincial assembly.

Some of the names making the rounds at present are former provincial election commissioner in Sindh Sonu Khan Baloch, former Sindh chief secretary Fazlur Rehman, Justice (retd) Zahid Qurban Alvi, Justice (retd) Amir Hani Muslim, Justice (retd) Nasir Aslam Zahid, Justice (retd) Deedar Hussain Shah, Ghous Ali Shah and Engineer Hameed Soomro.
