Performance report shared with media

ABBOTTABAD: The renovation work of all four boys and one girls hostel, library, seminar, lectures halls, administration block and Department of Information Technology of Ayub Medical College Abbottabad has been completed.

Ayub Medical College Abbottabad Dean Prof Dr Aziz-un-Nisa said this while sharing the last two years performance report of the college with the media during a briefing here on Thursday.

Flanked by Prof Dr Naeema Afzal and others at the conference room of the college, she said all the five hostels had been renovated at Rs40 million amount approved by the Board of Governors (BoG).

The dean said NESPAK had been hired as the consultant for the construction of double-storey Students Teachers Centre (STC) building. It will have a bank, post office, gymnasium, daycare centre and indoor games and college guest house.

Flanked with Prof Dr Naeema Afzal and others at the conference room of the college, Dr Aziz-un-Nisa said during last two years, college administration established Department of Medical Education (DME) at the college which was also a requirement of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) and Khyber Medical University.

She said dedicated posts for DME were created by the Board of Governors (BoG) and the staff was being hired. The DME is tasked with developing both postgraduate and undergraduate education.

Dr Aziz-un-Nisa took credit for starting Procurement Department and establishing Human Resource Department for the smooth functioning of the institution.

“A qualified Procurement Officer was appointed and Procurement Committee constituted to ensure transparent, timely and prudent procurement of equipment and furniture, etc and a professional human resource manager was hired,” she added.

Dr Aziz-un-Nisa said implementation of the MTI Act and regulations was the most exhausting job which the administration managed to complete besides implementation of the biometric system.

Of the academic activities, the dean said a number of international and national conferences, seminars and workshops were organized in the institution.

Dr Aziz-un-Nisa denied any corrupt practices in the institution and categorically said the BoG had already exonerated all the members of the purchase committee and end users of any anomaly for the purchase of the equipment.

Earlier, the dean took the media team to the library, college hostels, IT Department and other projects and did the briefing on the spot. A number of professors, lecturers, provost and students were present there.
