PU summer vacation from 28th to Aug 14
LAHORE: Punjab University teaching departments, institutes, centers and constituent colleges will remain closed for summer vacation from May 28 to August 14.
Meanwhile, PU has issued a notification for office timings during Ramazan. The PU will remain opened from 8am to 2pm (Monday to Thursday) while 8am to 12noon on Friday. While the University Health Centre and the essential services of Resident Office-I, Resident Office-II, Engineering Branch, Executive Club and Employees Housing Society will observe the office timings of 8am to 1pm (All week days except Friday) while 8am to 12noon on Friday during the holy month.
synopses: A meeting of Punjab University’s Advanced Studies and Research Board was held on Tuesday which approved 21 PhD synopses, 28 evaluation reports and 21 panels of examiners. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasira Jabeen chaired the meeting. Eight extension cases and nine miscellaneous cases were also approved in the meeting.
competitions: National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) organised “Provincial Skill Competitions” at a local hotel here on Tuesday. A large number of students of more than a hundred technical institutions participated in the competitions. The winner in each trade was awarded Rs75,000, Rs50,000 and Rs30,000 for first, second and third position respectively.
National Vocational & Technical Training Commission Executive Director Zulfiqar Ahmed Cheema, industrialists, office bearers of different Chamber of Commerce & Industries of Punjab and heads of technical training institutes were present on the occasion.
Zulfiqar Ahmed said skilled youth could change the destiny of the country. He urged the media to highlight the importance of technical training. Technical education and training should be integral part of the manifesto of every political party, he said.
