KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly on Monday approved a majority resolution against the former premier Mian Nawaz Sharif, condemning his recent remarks regarding Mumbai attacks and demanded him to seek an apology from the entire nation. Strongly criticising the former prime minister's statement, the Sindh Assembly termed it a violation of his oath, which has hurt the feelings of the nation.

The resolution signed by members from both the opposition and the treasury benches stated that ‘remarks made by Mian Nawaz Sharif relating to the Mumbai attack have not only hurt the feelings of the Pakistani nation struggling against terrorism but also violated the provisions of his oath that he took under Article 91(5) of the Constitution.’

“By his irresponsible act and mis-statement, he has caused great harm to the sovereignty, integrity and solidarity of Pakistan. Hence, this House condemns the behaviour and attitude of Mian Nawaz Sharif who owes an apology to the Nation”, the joint resolution, approved with majority votes by the Sindh said, as the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmakers refused to assent it.

The joint resolution was signed by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Functional, Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) MPAs.
