TIMERGARA: A poetry book ‘da sazoono baran’ (rain of tunes) written by Neelum Arzoo, a poetess from Warsak, Lower Dir, was launched at a ceremony held at Badwan here on Sunday.
A noted Pashto poet Dr Abaseen Yousafzai was the chief guest on the occasion.
The Elam Pukhto and Kaltori Maraka, a literary society of the Jehanzeb College in Swat, had arranged the ceremony.
Pashto poets Dr Abaseen Yousafzai, Dr Haseena Gul, Prof Dr Izharullah Izhar, Prof Dr S Yousafzai, Ibrarullah Ibrar and others spoke on the occasion.
They praised the poetess Neelam Arzoo for her contribution and hoped her book would add to the literary treasure of the Pashto literature.
The speakers said that woman poets should be encouraged to come forward and play active role in social sciences.
Abaseen Yousafzai shed light on importance of poetry in literature. He said the poetess had defied the stereotypes and come up with literary heroics.
Neelam Arzoo is the first poetess belonging to Lower Dir who got published her poetry work and got applause from the audience and critics.
